This distinctive throw, born from a recycled yarn and a shared commitment to circularity, is not just an accessory but a testament to conscious fashion and community collaboration.
The heart of the process lies in cutting up and shredding the recycled denim jeans and mixing this fibre with pure new wool to create a recycled fibre mix for blending. Using 30% post-consumer recycled jeans sourced from the Nudie Jeans’ Repair Shop, old jeans find new life.
This blend is then processed through our carding line, where the fibre is opened up and aligned. Going over increasing finer carding rolls, the fibre is prepared for spinning, where it is drafted and twist is introduced, locking the fibres together and creating a fine recycled yarn.
The yarns journey continues into weaving, where it is wound and prepared for warping. Running the length of the cloth, the warp is carefully wound onto a drum, ensuring even tension, and is finally wound onto a warp beam. Once the warp is in place, the loom comes alive under the mastery of the weaver, and weft is woven across the warp to give us the first look at the Ture throw.
Once woven, the woven recycled denim cloth is inspected and moved through to finishing. Here it undergoes its final transformation. The fringes are rolled, and the fabric is milled and raised to create a luxurious soft pile. Once dry, the throws are meticulously cut from the cloth and a final inspection takes place before each throw has its Nudie Jeans x Waverley Mills label carefully attached with each throw ready for its next journey.
