Discover our collection of premium wool blankets, woven in Tasmania with heritage craftsmanship and care. Designed for those who value quality, sustainability and comfort, our blankets are made from merino wool and recycled wool — combining breathable warmth with timeless style. Choose from a variety of weights, colours and finishes to suit every home and every season. Whether layered on a bed or gifted with love, each blanket is made to last a lifetime.
The right blanket comes down to size, weight and fibre. Our bed blankets are woven in three sizes: King Single / Twin at 182 × 244 cm, Queen at 254 × 244 cm and King at 275 × 244 cm, each cut generously so the blanket tucks in and still drapes either side. For fibre, merino wool offers the softest handle and finest finish, while our recycled wool ranges are more robust and made from offcuts processed on site at the mill. Explore our merino wool throws for lighter layering, or our kids wool blankets for children's rooms.

Frequently Asked Questions
What size wool blanket do I need?
Our bed blankets come in three sizes. King Single / Twin measures 182 × 244 cm (71 × 96 inches) and suits a king single, twin or twin XL bed. Queen measures 254 × 244 cm (100 × 96 inches). King measures 275 × 244 cm (108 × 96 inches). Each is cut wider than the mattress so the blanket covers the bed, tucks in at the foot and drapes down both sides.
What is the difference between a wool blanket and a wool throw?
A blanket is sized for a bed and made to be layered under or over other bedding. A throw is smaller, designed for a sofa, chair or the end of a bed. If you are buying for a bed, choose a blanket in your mattress size. Browse our wool throws if you are after a smaller layering piece.
How soft is your wool?
Softness comes down to micron count, which measures the thickness of each fibre. The finer the fibre, the softer it feels against the skin. Our Wellington blankets are woven from 22 micron merino wool, well below the 30 micron mark where fibres become stiff enough to prickle. Smith's Lane is our softest blanket and Terrain Cabin the most robust, with Wellington sitting between the two. Read more in our guide to Merino wool.
Where are your wool blankets made?
All of our wool blankets are made in Australia. Waverley Mills is located in Launceston, Tasmania, where each blanket is woven and finished using locally sourced Australian wool. They don't leave our mill until they are on their way to you.
Are wool blankets suitable for all seasons?
Yes. Wool is a thermoregulating fibre, meaning it helps keep you warm when it is cold and cool when it is warm. The natural crimp in the fibre traps air that insulates against temperature changes, while the fibre draws moisture vapour away from the skin. This makes a wool blanket comfortable year-round rather than only in winter.
Is a wool blanket itchy?
Not when the wool is fine. Itchiness is caused by coarse fibres which are too stiff to bend and press against the nerve endings in the skin. The fine merino wool used in our blankets bends softly against the skin instead. Most people who remember wool as itchy are thinking of older, coarser products. Our guide explains this in detail: is wool itchy?
How do I wash a wool blanket?
Our wool blankets need gentle care to keep their quality, which means hand washing or dry cleaning rather than a standard machine cycle. Wool is naturally odour-resistant and needs washing far less often than synthetic bedding, and airing a blanket outdoors will usually freshen it between washes. See our full wool blanket care guide.
