Kids Wool Blankets

A King Single blanket, known as a Twin in the United States, suits most children's beds. Our kids' wool blankets measure 182 × 244 cm (71" × 96"), covering a King Single, Twin, or Twin XL mattress with enough width to tuck in and drape over either side.

No. Merino wool is a thermoregulating fibre, which means it helps keep children warm when it is cold and cool when it is warm. The natural crimp in the fibre traps air that insulates against temperature change, while the fibre absorbs moisture vapour and draws it away from the skin, keeping a dry microclimate through the night. Testing by the CSIRO found Merino fabric moves 27% more moisture vapour away from the body than polyester of identical construction. Not when the wool is fine. Itchiness comes down to micron count, which measures each fibre's thickness. Our Wellington blankets are woven from 22-micron Merino wool, bending softly against the skin instead of poking it. The result is a blanket that feels smooth and soft, even for sensitive young skin. Wool is a natural, renewable fibre that breathes, resists odour and does not shed microplastics the way synthetic fleece can. It is also naturally fire-resistant: wool is difficult to ignite and chars rather than melting, while many synthetic fibres melt when exposed to flame. A well-made wool blanket can last decades. Ours are woven in Tasmania to the same standard as our adult ranges, so a blanket bought for a child's first bed can move with them into adulthood.

Care instructions are listed on each product page. Wool is naturally odour-resistant and needs washing far less often than synthetic bedding, and airing a blanket outdoors is often enough to freshen it between washes.
