The Making of the Collector's Edition
The Collector's Edition are pieces of Australian manufacturing history, blending practical warmth and contemporary style for a practical and luxurious textile that speaks of a shared commitment to our communities, our textile heritage, and the wool that started it all.

The Wool
Beaufront
To create something truly exquisite, you must start at the source. We have sourced the finest single origin 18-micron Tasmanian wool, to make the Collector’s Edition Plaid.
The 18-micron wool for the Collector’s Edition Plaid is sourced from Beaufront. Julian and Annabel von Bibra are the fourth generation of the von Bibra family to run merinos on their picturesque farm in Ross, Tasmania. Beaufront uniquely blends conservation with agriculture, where superfine merino sheep graze in managed native bush. This approach ensures that the natural diversity is protected for future generations.

The Design
BernabeiFreeman
The Collector’s Edition Plaid is designed by BernabeiFreeman, a renowned design duo known for their unique blend of contemporary style and traditional craftsmanship. Bernabeifreeman brings a fresh perspective to textile design, ensuring each piece is both beautiful and functional.
In designing the 150 Waverley Mills plaid, Rina and Kelly embraced the opportunity to touch upon the rich cultural history of Waverley Mills. Through the design process they investigated traditional plaids from the mill's archives, and reinterpreted these to create a contemporary design that encapsulates the mill's past and its future.

The Mill
Waverley Mills
The Waverley Mills Collector’s Edition Plaid, crafted from single-origin Tasmanian wool, is a testament to durability and craftsmanship. Launceston, Tasmania, once a global textile powerhouse, was home to multiple mills transforming the region’s superior wool into coveted textiles worldwide.
Today, only Waverley Mills remains, proudly guarding this rich heritage and celebrating enduring quality. Founded by John Bullman 150 years ago, it is the last mill of its kind in Australia.
Our skilled team of artisans are the custodians of their trade, training the artisans of the future. Together, they've crafted the Collector's Edition on site, right here where it all started 150 years ago.
