Why tartan?
Tartan has always been shaped by place — by weather, by use, by landscape. Tasman Tartan reinterprets that through a Tasmanian lens. Quieter in tone, lighter in palette, built for how people actually live. Not reproduction for its own sake. Tartan, reconsidered.
Tasmanian colours
Tasmania changes the way you see colour. Water turns from blue to silver. Grasslands fade into stone. Straits Blue reflects cold southern water and distant horizons. Maria Tan carries the warmth of dry grass and weathered sandstone. Colours made to sit within a room, not dominate it.
Pure wool
Wool is the reason Waverley Mills exists. We spin, weave and finish every piece at our Launceston mill — the last fully vertical woollen mill of our kind in Australia. Renewable, biodegradable and naturally insulating. A fibre grown by sun, rain and grass, not made from oil. For us, it has never been a trend.

FAQ
How soft is your merino wool?
The industry standard is to measure wool by microns. The lower the micron count, the finer, and softer, the wool. We use 18-micron merino wool for our super soft throws, making them buttery soft to the touch and the perfect addition to any home decor.
Will wool pill?
Pilling is a natural part of the lifecycle of wool. Abrasion and friction are the most likely causes of pilling, but may be unavoidable over the life cycle of your natural fibre product.
The good news is that pilling is easily remedied. Simply remove the pills carefully, by hand or with a comb, for a good as new appearance.
